Cinemacked is a film and television interest blog that engages the entertainment, the aesthetics and the sociopolitics of good film and television. It’s a space for fun times and smart times. I wanted to create a space where I could shoot the breeze about films and TV shows that I like and primarily from 3 perspectives. 1) As a person who wants to be entertained, like anyone else. 2) As a photographer and a writer. I like beautiful aesthetics; cinematography, lighting, costumes, makeup, production design etc., and incredible scripts. I love films and shows that are visually and contextually engaging. 3) As a womanist who engages media with a certain sociopolitical lens, as media is not arbitrary, random, neutral nor apolitical.

During my years of creating for Gradient Lair, I wrote quite a bit about film and television, with a womanist perspective. Now that Cinemacked is its own space, I will be creating digital publications on specific themes in film and television; somewhat of a springboard from Gradient Lair and some as new content. They'll be available in Publications. Stay tuned!
